Customers review | ★★★★☆ (4.6/5) |
For a wide selection of cycling gear, Woodcock Cycle Works is one of the options. They’re considered as one of the largest bike retailers in Winnipeg.
In this shop, you’ll find different brands of bikes and accessories, like Shimano, SRAM, Chris King, DaKine, and Campagnolo, among many others.
We like that Woodcock Cycle Works has a virtual tour of their shop featured on their website. So if you want to visit the place without leaving your home, this feature is a treat.
This shop is also available for online shopping, so you won’t need to leave your house when buying parts and bike accessories. And it’s a great addition that they ship all over the country.
The flat-rate shipping fee within Winnipeg is $50, but you can also avail of their free shipping fee when your order reaches $150 and above.
Aside from providing bikes and parts, Woodcock Cycle Works also offers bike tuning services. Their minor maintenance starts at $89.99, which falls on the average price of bike maintenance service.
We also like that each service appointment gets a free bike assessment. We think that this is beneficial for customers so they’ll get an estimate of how much they have to spend on their bikes.
They also provide rentals for bikes and ski gear which is ideal if you don’t want to commit yourself to a particular type of bike yet.
Another service that they offer is their bike fitting.
Cyclists and bike enthusiasts will have their bikes custom-made according to their size and preferences, which adds another level of comfort for them. The price for this service usually starts at $1000.
And if you’re a bit tight on budget, Woodcock Cycle Works offers flexible payment options. They offer up to 12 months of installment.

Great selection, excellent service
“Great selection, excellent service. We’re taken care of as soon as we’re in the door. The staff took their time to patiently answer all our questions before we buy anything. You don’t see that kind of service anymore these days. Very knowledgeable and professional. I am very satisfied overall. My next bike will definitely be from here!”—Iryna Nedashkivska, Google Reviews
The transaction and pickup of the bike was smooth and painless
“I bought a bike last year from Woodcock online. The transaction and pickup of the bike was smooth and painless. Now it was time for the complimentary service after one year since purchase. I contacted them through their website, and was given a date to drop it off. Again, what a fantastic experience! They completed the service in 24 hours, texted me it was ready, and went above and beyond with the service. I highly recommend Woodcock and will make all future bike purchases from them as well.”—Trevor Molinski, Google Reviews
2. Bikes and Beyond
Criteria | Ratings |
Price | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Product and services | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Customers review | ★★★★☆ (4.8/5) |
Bikes and Beyond has been providing bicycles in Winnipeg for over 30 years. They offer a wide selection of rides such as mountain, hybrid, triathlon, BMX, and children’s bikes, just to name a few.
We like that Bikes and Beyond employ qualified and experienced mechanics, making them a one-stop shop for bike parts and repairs. In addition, you’ll get free estimates for your bike repairs and maintenance.
Another thing that we like about this bicycle shop is their extensive list of bike products and accessories. They have fenders, repair tools, eyewear, and locks, among many others.
It’s also great that they have skiing equipment and winter accessories up for grabs.
We’d also like to highlight that Bikes and Beyond has a Kids’ Bike Trade-Up Program. With this, kids will be able to ride a quality bike that fits them perfectly despite the growth spurts.
When your child is ready to move on to a bigger bike, you just need to bring back the old bike, and they’ll give you a discount of up to 50% of the original price of the kid’s new bike.
We also love how convenient it is to purchase a bike from them since they’re available for online shopping. They also ship orders within Canada via Canpar or Canada Post with a shipping charge of $15.
But if you prefer to pick up your orders at their physical store, you can do so through their in-store or curbside pick-up.
However, it’s a downside that Bikes & Beyond is open four times a week only. This bicycle shop is closed on Fridays and Sundays.
Despite that, Bikes and Beyonds is still a great option for buying bikes and getting repairs or maintenance. They accept walk-in customers for their repair services, which we think is perfect for emergencies.
To top it off, we like that this shop offers financing options for customers. They offer a 0% interest layaway payment method and payment through Financeit.
Pros
- Features a Kid’s Bike Trade-Up Program
- Accepts walk-in for their repair services
- Free estimates for bike repairs and maintenance
- Available for online shopping

Staff at the store were very helpful, friendly, and had no attitude
“Having recently moved to Winnipeg I was searching for a Local Bike Shop (LBS) and ventured into Bikes and Beyond. Staff at the store were very helpful, friendly, and had no attitude. The store will definitely be my go to LBS. Buy local!! The internet store cannot fix your bike, provide advice on parts, or lead your local group ride. Long live the local bike shop!!”—John Helsdon, Google Reviews
My experience at Bikes and Beyond was really amazing
“My experience at Bikes and Beyond was really amazing. I am a relatively novice rider and they were patient with me, helpful and explained things to me so well. It was a great experience – judgement free, pressure free and informative. I would highly recommend riders of all skill levels to shop here. I will make all bike related purchases here moving forward and I can’t wait to use their service shop for future bike needs. Thank you!!”—Kristian Kjell, Google Reviews
3. Alter Ego Sports
Criteria | Ratings |
Price | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Product and services | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Customers review | ★★★★☆ (4.8/5) |
Alter Ego Sports has been one of the go-to bicycle shops in Winnipeg since it was established in 1998. They specialize in providing various products like bikes, snowboards, skis, and nordic equipment.
The first thing that we love about Alter Ego Sports is their comprehensive product catalogue. Each of the products on their online shop comes with some info that helps customers make an informed choice.
It’s also notable that this shop offers a lifetime service. Every bike bought from Alter Ego Sports receives unlimited adjustments and general maintenance–all for free. You just need to schedule an appointment with them to avail this service.
And for their annual lifetime service offering, bikes purchased in 2021 or later, the owner gets a 50% discount for their Ready to Roll Tune-Up package, which can be availed once a year.
As for bikes purchased before 2021, the owner gets a free-of-charge bike tune-up once a year.
However, we think that the 24 to 48 hour waiting time to get an appointment scheduled with them is quite long.
But despite that, we’re still impressed with Alter Ego Sports because they’re not only selling bikes and accessories, but they also build a community where you can enjoy riding with other cycling enthusiasts.
They feature a cycling club that everyone can join. Being a club member lets you have access to participate in planned rides and events and other exciting activities. We’d also like to mention that the club is an affiliate club of the Manitoba Cycling Association.
Just take note that there’ll be a minimum general membership fee when you register for their club.
Lastly, Alter Ego Sports staff are experts in their products and services. They’re also glad to assist every customer they have in store.
Pros
- Provides Lifetime Service
- Wide array of bikes and other gears
- Organizes cycling events
- Friendly staff
- Big parking spot for customers
Cons
- Closed on Sunday
- Mixed reviews
- Long waiting time to get an appointment

4. White Pine Bicycle Company
Criteria | Ratings |
Price | ★★★★★(4/5) |
Product and services | ★★★☆☆ (3/5) |
Customers review | ★★★★☆ (4.8/5) |
Located in the bustling area of Portage Avenue, you’ll see the White Pine Bicycle Shop which specializes in providing affordable and reliable urban bikes.
Their bike offerings include beach and city cruisers, commuters, e-bikes, fat bikes, children’s bikes, and bike trainers. Aside from that, they also sell bicycle parts and accessories and snowboarding equipment.
We like that White Pine Bicycle Company also provides gear and equipment for other types of physical activities. They have paddleboards, longboards, and scooters sold through their sister company.
White Pine Bicycle Company is also a great shop if you’re looking for buddy riders. They sell pet seats that can be attached to your bikes, so you can finally take your furry friend on a ride.
We also like that this shop is the perfect place to go to for casual bikers. They have a wide selection of cruiser bikes that are also good on the eye.
But with that being said, you won’t find heavy-duty road or mountain bikes in this shop.
Another thing that we think is a downside is they don’t accept returns for bicycles and paddleboards. However, their return policy for parts and accessories is within 14 days, and the product must be in new condition.
However, we still like White Pine Bicycle Company because they offer repair services at affordable prices. The starting price for their general tune-up for single-speed bikes is $60.
They also provide free estimate service for their customers, which we think is great. You’ll get to know the condition of your bike without having to spend money immediately.
Pros
- Affordable service and repairs
- Offers aesthetic cruisers
- Provides attachable pet seats
- Clean bikes and shop
Cons
- Closed on Sunday
- Doesn’t offer heavy-duty bikes
- Doesn’t accept return for bikes and paddleboards

Bought two bikes here awhile ago, the service was outstanding
“Incredible experience. Bought two bikes here awhile ago, the service was outstanding! The owner and staff really went out of their way to work with us (supply chain issues at the time as all were experiencing) and were extremely helpful. If you’re looking for a bike in Winnipeg and surrounding areas this is your best bet!”—Jamie Williamson, Google Reviews
Will definitely keep going back for service and purchases
“This place! The staff and the service both deserve 5 stars. Knowledgeable, not pushy, helpful and no pressure. They’re definitely focused on the customer. I’ve bought gear and products from there, and had my bike serviced there as well. They will always take a look at the best solution that will be the least costly for you, rather than trying to sell you on more expensive repairs or new parts if they are not necessary. I will definitely keep going back for service and purchases, and highly recommend this shop!”—Shawn Thomas, Google Reviews
5. Olympia Cycle & Ski
Criteria | Ratings |
Price | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Product and services | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Customers review | ★★★★☆ (4.4/5) |
Olympia was established by professional cyclist Lindsay Gauld in 1983. The store was opened to provide cycling and skiing gear to the community of Winnipeg.
Olympia offers an assortment of products like gravel and mountain bikes, kids’ bikes, hybrid and fitness bikes, and accessories, just to name a few. We also like that they carry different brands from Cannondale to Giant and Liv.
What we like the most about Olympia is their passion for advocating cycling and cross country skiing in the community. Their staffs are avid cyclists and skiers as well, so you’ll be ensured that they know their business.
This shop offers convenient online shopping. Their website is easy to navigate, and you can easily find a bike that fits your needs and budget.
However, they’re currently offering curbside pickup only for online orders as of the time of this writing.
But despite that, Olympia still deserves the spot on this list because of their affordability. They offer new old stocks and gently used parts and accessories for much lower prices.
Olympia should be your best bet if you’re not too picky with using old stock or gently used products. You get to save money when you avail of these offerings.
Another great thing about this shop is that they’re also available for tune-up services. Their most basic tune-up service is the 50 Hour Safety Check which costs $69.99.
But if you prefer DIY bike repairs and maintenance, they also have parts and tools for sale.
Lastly, you’ll be ready to be on the road when you choose Olympia because they also provide clothes and shoes that are suitable for cycling.

- Accepts major credit cards for payment
- Knowledgeable staff
- Offers ski packages rental
